VISITING PROFESSIONALS.
DBA / BRIEFING.
This morning we had a briefing given by several designers that were all a part of the DBA (Design Business Association). They all introduced themselves as individuals as well as were they are working and what they specialised in and then started to explain and discuss what the DBA was.
The design effectiveness awards are similar to the way in which the D&AD awards are presented however they are not as well known and a lot harder to wine. While D&AD and other similar competitions are very creative. The design effectiveness awards are focused more on concept driven and well excited work that is effective as well as creative.
THE BRIEF - The Northern Powerhouse.
Brand the Northern Powerhouse / Capital North
- How can you symbolise and signify that chosen cities as one mega city in order to attract business and interest away from London and the South.
- What is there to offer?
- This is a predominantly an Identity lead brief.
- Think past the obvious / Steer away from cliches and typical northern stuff.
- Work on the details in aesthetics and concept rather that just spreading a vague identity over multiple platforms.
- Use precession and crafting to make something beautiful.

GROUPING UP
We were told that it would be better to work in smaller groups so no more than 5. When I got back to the studio I started to look for people to work with.
I joined a group that consisted of:
Melissa Gater
Grace Buckley
Adam Garbutt
Charlie Rotheram
I hadn't really worked with any of these guys before so I thought it would be interesting to work alongside different people and learn new things.
To start with we all agreed that we should go away as individuals and think about the brief and our own interpretations in order to get a foundation and foot in to start building the project.
