Actors Portfolio / Layout & design / Initial ideas

OUGD603 / EXTENDED PRACTICE
ACTORS PORTFOLIO.
DEVELOPMENT OF DESIGN.

I started looking at how I could arrange the front page of the portfolio so I could then apply this aesthetic and layout to the rest of the document.

I started looking at possible logos type visuals that could be a plied to the portfolio to give it a professional and well put together edge. This uses a similar self promotion that us graphic designers use.

I felt that a simpler approach would be the most appropriate because the focus should not be on a 'brand' as such, but just be on the individual.
I started to experiment more with this notion, looking at possibilities that combined type the photos that I had taken.

I liked the idea of have Bens face obscured on the from page. I felt this added a bit of mystery and intrigue to the document as you del that you wanted to know shoe this individual was.

Having Ben's eyes blanked out had the biggest effect. I think this is because a personas eyes are a massive part of their identity. Because you can't see his eyes but the rest of his body, this makes you want to open the document to find out more.
I really liked this idea of revealing his identity through out the pages. The colours I had been experimenting with (the yellows and blacks) added to this sense of mystery but i wanted to look at different ways of playing with colour and layout.

I liked the addition of blue over a light grey image because I feel it adds more of an airiness and modern perspective. I experimented some more with different colours and shapes.

Out of these tests and experiments, I do like the original ideas without the coloured shapes. i looked into this a little further looking at different combinations of typography.

Out of all the solutions, this one is my favourite.
No that i have a rough idea on what I am wanting the first page to look like, I then started to look at layouts for the inside pages.
