Actors Portfolio / Print & Testing

OUGD603 / EXTENDED PRACTICE
ACTORS PORTFOLIO
PRINTING AND TESTING.

While printing this portfolio, I was having some issues with the colours and how they were coming out down in James's print room.

The blue that I had used for the background images started to come out in a grey tone and the background images were not as distinguished as they are when looking at them on screen.

Using a coated stock on the laser printer meant that the colour was altered and the print looked really shiny which is something that just does not suit the look I am aiming to achieve.

Because of this i had to look at ways around the colour issues as well as the stock.

I adjusted the colour of the document so that the blue was more apparent, However I realised that it was because I was printing on the laser primer that the print was lacking clarity. This was what was also making the surface of the paper seem shiny, I had chosen to try cartridge paper as i felt this would add texture, however this was taken away by the laser printer.

I was able to finally print on the ink jet printer on the cartridge and even though the colour wasn't a blue and saturated as I would have liked, I was starting to run out of time and I was struggling to find away round the primer situation. There isn't too much I can do about how the printer works.

I am happy with the way the inserts have been printed, I wanted these to be on a coated stock and have a shiny surface so it stands out from the un-coated surface of the actual fold out. I think the contest works very well in distinguishing the perforated items as well as the business card.

I decided to sew in the insert because this felt like a more seamless option rather then stapling. i feel that this really works as part of the fold out and again adds a character and something that is not as typical as other methods.
