Actors Portfolio / Initial ideas

OUGD603 / EXTENDED PRACTICE
ACTORS PORTFOLIO
INITIAL IDEAS.

The main aims for this project is to have something that is easy to read and communicates the type of actor that Ben is. This is not only through the text that will be a part of the document, it will also need to be communicated through imagery and layout.

This piece will have to be deliverable so that studios and agencies further a field can be contacted. The fact that this CV will be sent in the post will make this budding actor stand out more due to the fact that not many people try this approach and send a lot of things over email. Sending a material version would be a great way to make an introduction for a relationship that ca then be continued over email and phone.

The mandatories for the Portfolio is:

- Headshots
- Contact details
- Experiences
- Details of physical attributes
- Education.

I sketched out a couple ideas, However I did already have an idea in mind that I knew would work.

Having a fold out document would be a very efficient yet stylish way to house all this information regarding the actor. The fold out allows me to work with 8 panels all on now sheet of A3 which also makes it cheap to reprint.

I made a mock up to look at how I could arrange the file and how each panel would work individually and together.

Page 1 - A title page (possibly an image of the actor and his name).

Page 2 - A page that lists the attributes of the actor (height, hair colour etc.)

Page 3 - Education and experiences

(Pages inside the fold out / all viewed at the same time.)

Pages - 4, 5, 6, 7 Images of the actor (head shots / action shots)

Page 8 - The last page that has all contact details on.

While I was figuring out the page order, I though it would be a cool idea to have each panel with the 4 head shots on perforated so then can be removed and kept on file, This would give even more use to the document.

I am really happy with this layout and I think it will work well in terms of ease, flow and costs.

Bone Broths 2 / Packaging / Development

OUGD603 / EXTENDED PRACTICE
BONE BROTH 2
PACKAGING DEVELOPMENT.

I started by adding the main items to the pak. Nick wanted to have the logo on each side of the package as well as the front. Personally i thought this was very unnecessary because the packed isn't really that big. having the logo on three sides of the box just wasted a lot a space. But this is what they wanted so thats what I did.

I then stated to arrange my illustration onto this file to see how I could get the best solution.

I liked having some of the illustration over lapping the main informational pits on the product. I think this gave more character to the layout and added to the natural feel.

As well as the nutrition label and the bar code. I was also asked to include this badge which is a label the shows the produce is legitimate and has been checked by the concerning food department.

I added this badge to the from to the packaging so its at the forefront of the product and clearly on view.

For the time being, the Bone Broth guys only wanted the beef flavoured broth. I decided to print out this carton roughly so I could get an idea of how this design would look in situ and to ensure that everything lined up accordingly.

I was really happy with the outcome, even if Ithought that the logos on each side over did it slightly. I also realised that i hadn't filled the box on the left hand side of the box.

It said in it 'UPC CODE' I wasn't sure what this was so I googled it.

This is actually were the bar code should be, so I made sure that I adjusted this.

This is the finished net design for the Bone Broths Packaging.

DBA / Presentation Feedback / Winner Announcement

OUGD603 / EXTENDED PRACTICE
PRESENTATION FEEDBACK.
WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT.

After we had presented, the DBA guys then gave us feedback on our solution, concept and visuals.

We got really positive feedback and they really enjoyed looking at our journey and how we had excited our concept. They were very impressed at our ideas and how we had applied the identity to well thought out and considered formats.

They asked about how we had got to were we are as the remember us struggling to begin with in that first workshop. We explained that we realised we were looking to create aesthetics before focussing on a concept and ethos and this was holding up back. Therefor we discontinued with our initial ideas and started fresh by looking at concepts and related aesthetic first without trying to attach a brand to them.

We explained that our main aim was to create an identity that united the cities in  a consistent and unique way while still preserving each cities integrity, culture and identity.

They were very impressed with our photoshop skills and really liked the thought of having the identity not only surrounding the train but also through other modes of transport throughout the city.

They also really liked the image of the three women in the uniforms and said that the fact that they were in different colours symbolised the blending and interaction between each of the cities and showed a great community model.

They suggested that we could intact drop the background shape from the posters as it wasn't really necessary as the chevron were really vibrant and engaging on there own.

They also suggested that we look at developing and using other shapes that work like the chevron in created patterns and textures.

They really enjoyed the flow of the presentation and thought we spoke very well and said that our presentation was very impactful and consistent with the grading present on every page.

THOUGHTS

We all felt amazing after this presentation and felt as though it couldn't have gone any better. It was a relief to know that all of our hard work and stressing had paid off and if nothing else came of this project, we could all be proud of how we worked and conducted ourselves.

WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT

After everyone had presented we all groups gathered back into the Lecture theatre were they talked about show ell they thought all the groups did and how much they enjoyed the experience.

They then went on to announce the winning team . . . . Which was us!!

This was an amazing feeling, especially considering the difficulties we had initially. We were all so happy that our work paid of!

DBA / Moving poster

OUGD603 / EXTENDED PRACTICE
MOVING POSTER.

I found an image of a digital screen inside a shopping place.

I liked the futuristic shape of the signage and thought it would suit our futuristic and shaped based aesthetic.

I created multiple j.peg images that showed the design change throughout. I made it so that the arrows moved off in an upward direction as well as having the colour fade in and out regarding the different cities. This was a really long process as i had to create each image individually so I wasn't able to have tall the colours present.

this is the finished gif that just gives a vague idea of the concept and movement behind he image.

DBA / Last meeting / Presentation Preparation

OUGD603 / EXTENDED PRACTICE
LAST GROUP MEETING.
FINAL PREPARATIONS.

Today we all gathered together and spent the whole day working together to ensure we had everything we needed in regards to the presentation as well as making sure that our visuals and applications were resolute enough.

Firstly we showed each other visuals we had developed over the last couple of days.

Mel had been working on way finding within the train station its self.

Adam had been creating visuals that looked at alternative transport within the city.

Charlie looked at visuals regarding the interior of the train.

Grace had also looked at alternative transport within the city as well as visuals that could be present in and around each city.

I showed the rest of the group what I had done regarding Liverpool visuals as well as uniforms.

Adam also mocked up some poster designs that used the designated colours as well as the chevron and map shapes. The posters look amazing, espesially all together. they are very impactful and intriguing and would defiantly catch peoples eyes.

We all gathered and looked at what we had in regards to material and started to talk about other things we could possibly do with. We also started to put together out presentation and look at how it could flow.

Melissa and I decided to mock up an escalator because we thought this would be a cool platform for a bit of branding as we could utilise the movement an escalate has.

Adam also mocked up some barriers for the station because we realised we didn't have such an image.

Grace and Charlie started to put together the presentation by looking at the order and flow. Grace also create a mood board that we could have present at the beginning and the end of the presentation to bring outs solution full circle.

Melissa and I made this mock up for the escalator (with a little help from Adam and his photoshop skills!). We had the gradient gradually change as it lead down the steps. this is so that when the stair rotate up and down the gradient changes giving a really cool and futuristic effect. We also added in the chevron shape which can act as a way finding method indicating the direction of the stairs and well as in keeping with our aesthetic.

Adam created this mock up of the barriers which looked awesome as the gradient flowed from one end to the other. I think this worked a lot better then just dressing each turnstile individually.

Grace created this mood board which embodied our whole ethos and identity, showing what we were looking to achieve and how.

LAST DAY PREPARATIONS.

Before we left we set each other a couple more jobs that needed sorting out before the presentation.

I was to come up with a role call for the presentation for who would say what and when. We had already discussed this briefly today so we could get a feel for who was comfortable talking about what.

Grace and Adam would finish up the presentation and we would all think of what we wanted and needed to say about each section making sure we had key points that would explain our concept and how it has been applied.

I also opted to create a moving version of the posters that Adam had created. I planned on doing this by creating a GIFF.
