Wedding Thanks / Packaging Development

OUGD603 / EXTENDED PRACTICE
WEDDING THANK YOUS
PACKAGING DEVELOPMENT

After spending some time away from this project during the COP module, I feel that the fold out packaging idea I had wanted to use used a lot of material for something that really didn't need.

I found a new type of packaging that i thought would work very well for my thank your. The format is a 2 sided fold over that fastens together with an elasticated band.

This wa all I would need would be a rectangular slip of card the folds down the middle. It had notches taken out of it and so does the photographs inside. This is so the elastic can be wrapped around the whole thing and hold everything together neatly and securely.

I could either have the notches positioned at the bottom of the fold over or at the top.

Having the notches at the top almost makes the document look like a book. I think that having the notches and the elastic wrap around the bottom of the fold over works a lot better as it holds the whole thing more securely.

It also offers more protection to the photographs inside.

I feel that this method cuts down on wasted materials and also but all the focus on the content. I want to replicate this with the foil that would be on the front of the folder.

I thought about having the thank you type on the front of the fold out, But i feel this might just be repetitive considering this type is already a part of the photographs inside.
I decided to have the front panel simple, and refined so that the impact is given once the folder is opened. I think that having the date on the front will make the recipient try to think back to the significance of the date. Some will remember bout others might not. This means that once the folder is open, the full realisation hits and the memories can start flooding back.

This is how I set out out some example photographs to pint.

I edited each one making sure the colour balance worked well together. I also added in little captions to each image. Having the photographs as individual pieces means that people can keep the photos and eaten cut them out of the frames if needed.

I thought about adding in a message to the fold over selection of photographs. i wrote out this message, however I just feel that the photographs should do the talking. I feel that the message on the first photograph should be the only type as this keeps the message simple as well as the layout and content.

This is an example of my foiled photographs. I forgot to take photos on me foiling my covers.
