JOHN LEWIS / EXISTING PACKAGING & INSPIRATION
RESEARCH.
EXISTING PACKAGING.
Even though I like how clean this existing and current delivery packaging is, I do think its quite boring and mundane. The brief states that they are looking to create an experience for those receiving products through the mail, However currently this packaging does not do that.
The diagonal pattern / identity is obviously something that is very recognisable to the brand as well as the colour green used through out. This is something we are going to have to consider and incorporate into our design and concept in order to remain consistent with the existing brand.
There is definitely a heavy value on the functionality of this packaging, however the aesthetic seems old fashioned. Sarah and i need to aim for something that will engage the audience and induce intrigue and excitement

PACKAGING INSPIRATION
AMAZON / KINDLE FIRE PACKAGING
During the interview with the folks at John Lewis that is on the D&AD web page, they actually mentioned Amazons packaging and how the like the sleek and functional design.
I like the simple aesthetic of this packaging but also the adaptation of the normal, square sided shape you usually get with delivery packaging. Just the slanted panel were the perforation sits, gives a sense of a futuristic and high end product.

WINECAST PACKAGING
I really like the simplistic aesthetic of their box and how the layout stretches across the different sides in a kind of staggered manner. I feel that this adds to the sense of mail, and delivery as it is reminiscent of postal stamps a well as travel stamps. This to is enhanced with the use of stickers. Its this ethos that developed excitant and emotional response to this packaging.

CORNER PACK
Similarly to the amazon packaging, The simple adaptation to the shape of the typical delivery box automatically induces intrigue and excitement from the consumer. This fold on the corner actually works as a functional component as it locks the card in place so there is no longer a need to use that horrible parcel tape. This reduces waste as well as faff.

This is a very clever and simple way of incorporating packaging that can have a prolonged second life. this concept is very fitting in this example as the garment and afterlife packaging are very relevant to one another. Reusable and Keepable packaging are both things that were talked about in the interview.

CARAMELA DELIVERY PACKAGING
I really like the addition of colour and texture used to decorate and brand their otherwise typical form of delivery packaging. I feel that even this alone gives a sense of excitement and anticipation to what is in side these boxed. I also like how this aesthetic different regarding the size and shape of each box yet still remains consistent. the contrast between sizes and shapes is also very appealing.

SELFRIDGES DELIVERY
I don't like the brashness and mishmash aesthetic of this box and ints content. Even though I am not keen on the colour and the over all presentation of this box, I do like the use of a bag to hold the content inside the actual container. However I do think that this particular product is a little too over packaged if you take into consideration the box, cardboard inserts, tussue paper and bag that are all really doing the same thing.

I really like the clean aesthetic of this packaging and how all the surrounding packaging is simply there to enhance the item that is in the box. This is achieved through the colour chose and well as the clever adaptation of a lidded box. i really like the added flap that gives and added platform for type or image yet still remains clean and professional.

I really like the simplicity and contrast this package has in regards to the plain corrugated cardboard box and the texture tissue aper inside. i think this gives a fresh aesthetic that really give a high end feel to both the brand and product in the box.
