APPLICATION OF AESTHETICS.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT.
I started to look at how the aesthetic we create and the variations in colour could be applied to possible uniform and other clothing items that would be relevant to those working alongside the capital north transport.
I first looked at adding the textured background on a tie, but i wasn't having much luck and didn't like the results.
I found these examples of uniforms and i thought these would be a great basis for our aesthetic.
I started to play with these images as a a foundation and started to adjust colours and textures to them.
I adapted the colours and added in the map based shape. I did this using different opacities so as to replicate the texts we had created as part of the identity. I also added in the suitable logo regarding the colour and this corresponding city.
I looked at different colours for the main bodies of the dress but I feel that the navy colour is more refined and complimentary, not only to our aesthetic but also to the ladies that would be wearing the dresses.
I started to apply different colours and aesthetics to the other uniforms.
Here I adjusted the colour of the dark parts of these garments and made them a little bit more blue to keep the uniforms more exiting and vibrant.
I then adjusted the second image of the uniforms to remain consist at with the previous but to also show some outerwear options fro the women as well as options for male employees.

During this developmental process, Adam had creates a new addition to our aesthetic that is derived from the chevron shape inside out logo.
This would also be useful in terms of way finding and well as adding and accent as well as a secondary identity.
I added this secondary shape to the uniforms in order to keep everything consistent. I feel it adds a nice little accent to the uniform and really goes with the colours and textures that are already present.
During the last group meeting we all gave ourselves jobs and cities to work with in regards to applying our aesthetic in suitable and relevant ways. not only was this to be through out the train stations, but also throughout different areas of the city.
We wanted to use reverse platforms and those that celebrated the individual city by taking some of the most iconic structures and assets and adding the capital north aesthetic as an accent.
I looked at different places in Liverpool I could look a adapting.
I added the identity to a photo of the large shaping centre in the centre of Liverpool city. This area of the city is very popular and many people travel from near by cities and areas to visit the structure as it houses many highstreet stores as well as a cinema and large food hall.
I sent this to the group and they felt it was a little to busy. I also realised that the use of chevron here may confuse passers by in thinking that the train station could be in this direction.
I refined this slightly, getting rid of the unnecessary items. The whole pint of an identity is to make it recognisable so we do not have to just throw everything at all of or mock ups. Using subtlety not only looks better, it also avoids overwhelming and whitewashing the city.
The addition of 'Capital of Retail' uses our ever changing slogan and works by evolving and tailoring to the platform it has been applied to.
I also mocked up the identity on to the Telecom tower that is a massive structure that can be seen from miles around. Again the inter-changing slogan tailors to it platform and surroundings.
We also takes about looking at other transport within the city such as buses and taxis which we thought would be a great platform to work with as they would all be a part of the Capital North in the sense that they are taking you places within the city. this would also help to maintain consistency.
I thought that adapting the actual bike lane would be a cool and different approach that would see trails formed around the city.
