D&AD / Box Sticker / Reverse side on Card

OUGD603 / EXTENDED PRACTICE
STICKER FOR BOX & BACK OF CARD
DESIGN & PREPARATION.

One of my little jobs was to come up with a little layout for the back of the cards Sarah and I had made previously. We thought that we could utilise with space to promote interaction with John Lewis through  social media as this is a great platform to gain recognition and interest.

This is the layout and design I created that uses the same bow shape that is on the box. The back of the card is a block colour that contracts with the white used on the front. This helps to get the content to stand out. The message uses a bit of informal language to interact with the consumer and gives the option for them to take photos and videos of them with there package and upload this to instagram.

The use of the hashtag '#johnlewisspecialdelivery' means a selection of images can be collected through instagram and a lucky buyer can win £50 worth if John Lewis vouchers.

This is the finished card, both back and front. I sent this to Sarah and she was happy with the outcome. She then went on to alter the colour so that each card would correspond with the themed package it would be in.

RECYCLING STICKER

The next little job I had to do was to create a sticker for the bow that would indicate that this item was 100% recyclable. Previously I had looked at different types recycled material that could work like card. Unfortunately it was too difficult and expensive for us to use such materials so we figured that we can use normal cardboard and star that this would be recyclable material in real form.

For the sticker, I liked the idea of incorporating the John Lewis pattern so the box would be recognisable to the brand. I liked the idea of having a sticker the bent around the corner of the box.

Here you can se this idea in one of my original sketches. I thought that the sticker could either pass around the corner on the underneath lid. This way the stripes would correspond with the logo that would be printed on the lid.

These are a couple of the designs I came up with for this sticker. I sent them to Sarah and she felt that the first one was the best option but to probably get rid of the thistle hyphen in-between the text.

I played around the the layout of the type a little more until we were both happy with the design.

This is how Sarah and I were envisioning were the sticker would be situated on the box. We also agreed that we should print the stickers on both white venal and clear so we could see how they look on the box as it is hard to imagine with out seeing it physically.
