BOX CONTENT.
TISSUE PAPER & STICKERS.
While I worked on the mechanisms and technicalities of the delivery boxes, Sarah works on the presentation of the content regarding the tissue paper designs and the sticks that will be used to keep the tissue paper wrapped.
Firstly she sent me thorough the basic / standard tissue paper design that we had talked about previously. We felt that the stripes would offers a great contrast to the corrugated cardboard exterior.
We both agreed that the fainter grey stripes were the better option as the black and whit may be a little harsh. Once we had our standard tissue paper, Sarah went n to send me through possibilities she had come up with regarding the other themed packages we were looking to create.
After discussing the pro's and cons of each possible design, we came to the conclusion that the bottom image were the icons and close in together was the best pattern to use. We liked how the green xmas tree shapes also make the same shape in the white.
To remain consistent with the brand Sarah also thought it would be best to have this design in the John Lewis green.
This was the valentines themed tissue paper that Sarah created which just used the same principles as the christmas paper were the repeat icon placement creates a pattern.
Sarah then turned her attention to the stickers and how we can make the correspond well with not only the tissue paper, but with the brand on a whole and the experience we are trying to create for the consumer.
Sarah created these two icon sticker shapes for the standard packaging. We both agreed that we really liked the icon that looks like a present with a bow on as it ties in really well with our concept for the outer packing.
She also looked at having uniform shapes but with different messages present on each square that would differ depending on the theme of the parcel. Even though we did both like this concept, we both agreed that it would be better for the brand promotion to have the logo present on the sticker.
With the Christmas tissue paper, Sarah was worried that using the xmas tree shape as the icon for the sticker would mean that it would simply get lost as the pattern on the paper was too strong. She also said that the present icon may also get lost in there just because this to is quite a complex shape.
I suggested that instead of having a uniform shape for each sticker we could also have these relevant to the actual theme. For example, for the xmas theme, we could have a bauble as the sticker. Sarah liked this idea and got to work on some possibilities.
Sarah created these to options that both tie in with the xmas theme. We both really liked the bauble option and felt the added a little more exclusiveness to the package.
For the valentines paper, Sarah came up with a couple of options. We felt that he icons shown at the top were all a little to complex when paired up with the design on the tissue paper. Therefor we both agreed that the circular icon gave a little more simplicity to the aesthetic. The logo remains prominent but does not take away from the pattern in the background.
